My client is looking to add a shift production manager to its team due to continued growth. My client has just secured a multi million pound contract with a top high street retailer for their products for the next few years.

Main purpose of job
To control and co-ordinate the day to day organisation, activities and operation of the Preparation and Cooking areas, ensuring that efficiency targets are met whilst maintaining the highest quality standards within the constraints of available resources.

Main duties
To plan the daily workload within the preparation & cooking areas in accordance with the required production plan, maximising all available resource, and liaising with the Factory Manager & Production Planner with regards to progress.

To ensure agreed manning levels are maintained and that any absenteeism is effectively managed within the department.

To ensure that all health, safety and hygiene standards are adhered to within company guidelines and that areas are kept clean & tidy at all times.

To routinely monitor quality of output in conjunction with quality personnel.

To ensure all required target and performance related documentation (including any relating to labour) is completed accurately and within specified timescales.

To control waste / yields within specified standards by ensuring good working practices are adhered to.

To ensure effective handover between shifts.

To participate in various projects with the Factory Management team to assist in developing new methods, cost reduction ideas, quality and efficiency improvements.
To play a full part in the management of preparation, packing & cooking operatives to ensure:

o are all staff are regularly reviewed and any training and development is in line with departmental and organisational objectives
o any disciplinary or grievance matters are dealt with in line with company guidelines
o all company employment and personnel systems are adhered to at all times

To continuously work towards achieving the organizational goals

Key Skills Required

1. A good understanding of preparation & cooking processes and systems, and how they contribute to the entire manufacturing process
2. Good organisational skills / time management
3. Ability to work alone, use initiative and work to a high degree of accuracy
4. Ability to work under pressure
5. Good man-management and leadership skills
6. Excellent numeric and literacy skills to enable adequate provision and interpretation of information, both written and via a computer


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week flexible to meet business needs:

In return you can expect a basic salary of around £30k plus other benefits that come with a permanent job.
